Jennifer Crittenden, CEO Retail Alliance
Jennifer Crittenden (Jenny) was appointed CEO of Retail Alliance in February 2023. She joined Retail Alliance as the Senior Vice President in 2022. Prior to this, she served sixteen years in the Main Street ecosystem leading the non-profit organization, Main Street Preservation Trust in Gloucester, VA. Under her leadership, the program became nationally accredited and was bestowed awards at the state and national level. Of note, she holds the distinction of having been honored with the national Main Street Forward Award, showcasing Crittenden’s recovery and resiliency efforts and execution of an E-Commerce Platform for the Gloucester downtown businesses.
She is also a speaker at the local through national levels on retail and entrepreneurism and has presented multiple times at the National Main Street Now conference. In Virginia, Crittenden has presented at the Governor’s Summit, Downtown Intersections, various Virginia Main Street communities, SBDC and VEDA events.
During the pandemic, Gov. Ralph Northam appointed Crittenden to represent small brick and mortar retail on the Governor’s COVID-19 Business Task Force with the goal of assisting the developing reopening guidelines for businesses in Virginia.
Prior to joining Retail Alliance’s leadership team, Crittenden served in various facets with Retail Alliance, including its Retail Alliance Foundation Board, Executive Committee, Legislative and Membership Chairs and on the organization’s Board of Directors. For the last three years, she has served Retail Alliance as a subject matter expert teaching the Marketing and Customer Service module for the Retail Alliance Foundation’s Certificate in Retail Operations class.
Crittenden was also recognized in 2021 as one of twenty top women in business by Inside Business.
She has two grown children, Vaughan Crittenden (Richmond) and Allison Crittenden (Washington, DC). Jenny resides in Norfolk, VA with her rescue pup, Huck.
Jodi Roth, Government Affairs
Jodi has over 15 years experience in government affairs in the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as on the federal level. Jodi has represented a wide array of clients in front of the General Assembly and the Executive Branch during her career, including spending the last several years specifically on retail issues. During that time, Jodi worked to bridge a coalition of retail representatives throughout the state to ensure a unified voice on behalf of Virginia's retail industry.
Nancy Thomas, President
Nancy is the President/CEO of InUnison of Central Virginia. Prior to her current role, Nancy was involved in retail for 27 years and held multiple management positions with This End Up Furniture; as the owner of Arcade on Grove; and as a partner with Turn Key Interiors.
Nancy has four years of lobbying experience at the General Assembly and has testified before numerous committees on various retail industry legislation.
Nancy holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. She serves on several boards including the United Way, Richmond Region Tourism, Bon Secours Joint Hospitals Board, Henrico Police Foundation, The 100 Club, Governing Board of the Greater Richmond Convention Center Authority, and St. Bridget Church Advisory Board. Nancy's extensive community involvement includes delivering Meals on Wheels and serving as a confirmation teacher and Eucharistic minister at St. Bridget's Church and School. Nancy and her husband Jeff live in the Richmond area and have 2 children.
